Hardly any new skills develop during the sixth year. But there is definite improvement in confidence in moving around. But it take a higher level of refinement to achieve proficiency at painting. Your child has enough discipline and control to master said skills.
Your child develops hobbies. This may be influenced by you, his teachers and his friends. He has favorite activities of the day. He is capable of satisfactory self-care. He dresses and undresses himself confidently. He is capable of critically assessing his image and he tends to decide on his wardrobe.
Your child looks to the future and makes careers choices. He needs your help to guide him to success.
Your child is emotionally mature to give reasons for being friends with a particular kid and for not being so. While his reasoning still may be self-centered, he is capable of expressing his feelings. He compares individuals to role models in his life and makes presumptions about them. He had favorite people in his life from a very young age. Now he can have role models. He tries to imitate them and his career choices may also be affected.
Your child plays outside in the playground, mud, sand etc. So he is at risk of developing infections. He will mostly complain about discomforts he has.
